All's Well That Ends Well For Madonna and Child
To the surprise of absolutely no one, Madonna and David Banda, the boy whom she adopted stole adopted stole acquired from an orphanage in the African nation of Malawi, will likely be able to remain with she and hubby Guy Ritchie in London forever despite world outrage and the apparent confusion of the kid's father, who is dirt poor and lives in a mud hut and has said that he wasn't aware he was giving up his kid for good.
However, the transfer of parentage acquisition must be all but official now since Madonna appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" today to discuss the situation and how much little David is thriving and how it's very good and positive after all to subvert cumbersome laws and remove kids from impoverishment like a tornado blowing through town. And Oprah, as is her wont, nodded her "You go girl!" nod.
The dad, Yohane Banda, appeared somewhat angry at the fact he'd suddenly become a media magnet, telling an African newspaper the following:
"You are disturbing me. I don't have time to go and prepare my garden. You can imagine the rainfall is just around the corner. What do you want now? You are the ones trying to confuse me. Are you going to provide me with food if I fail to prepare my garden?"
This, I believe, is what qualifies in show business circles as a happy ending.
While you're pondering that, take a gander at this hilarious diary blog post about Madonna's momentous visit to Queen Oprah by the sinfully snarky Whitney Pastorek at EW Online's Popwatch.
