Television Goes Back to the Future
My friend David Kronke -- whom as I said in a previous blog item today is the esteemed TV Critic for the Los Angeles Daily News as well as founder and keeper of the blog The Mayor of Television -- has decided that he needs to write a satirical companion book for the announced PBS documentary miniseries project tracing the history of television that's being prepped for a Spring 2009 airing. Kronke wants to either write a parody tome or get hired as a talking head/expert and has taken the unusual step of openly campaigning for both jobs by penning his proposal right on his blog. Think of it: marketing your qualifications for one job while fulfilling the obligations of another. Brilliant! Bravo, I say!
Here are Kronke's book chapter rundowns, as culled from his site:

Kronke adds that since he has yet to hear from PBS about either his on-air expert offer or his companion book idea, he's considering sucking up/selling out via a supplemental chapter entitled, "PBS: Television's Savior" -- as found right here.

Anyway, I wish the Mayor of TV much luck -- certainly, more than the Mayor of Los Angeles has lately experienced.

Maybe he can get his picture taken with Paris Hilton, too.
