This just in: TV Academy releases 10 finalists for Emmy noms in top comedy/drama series categories

Looking to avoid getting scooped all over cyberspace, the TV Academy took a proactive approach this year in terms of its top ten vote-getters for outstanding drama series and outstanding comedy series Emmy Award nominations -- the short list from which the shorter list of (likely) five noms will be culled when nominations for the 60th Annual Primetime Emmys are released the morning of July 17.

It released the results on its website as soon as they were available, just after 3 p.m. today.

Top 10 Comedy Series Finalists: 1. "Curb Your Enthusiasm," HBO; 2. "Entourage," HBO; 3. "Flight of the Conchords," HBO; 4. "Family Guy," Fox; 5. "The Office," NBC; 6. "30 Rock," NBC; 7. "Pushing Daisies," ABC; 8. "Two and a Half Men," CBS; 9. "Ugly Betty," ABC; 10. "Weeds," Showtime.

Top 10 Drama Series Finalists: 1. "Boston Legal," ABC; 2. "Damages," FX; 3. "Dexter," Showtime; 4. "Friday Night Lights," NBC; 5. "Grey's Anatomy," ABC; 6. "House," Fox; 7. "Lost," ABC; 8. "Mad Men," AMC; 9. "The Tudors," Showtime; 10. "The Wire," HBO.
